Lunch after Litigation
In a single tone, this suit speaks for you while you are not saying a word. The cut and quality of Lafayette NY 148 is among my favorites when it comes to style and quality in suiting. Navy suits are a courtroom to boardroom staple, but they don’t have to be boring. Find a shade of blue you love, like this Mountain Blue, a style of suit that works for your body type, and style it in a monochromatic way for an elegant courtroom professional look. Show up fashionably late to your next lunch date in this elegant and timeless suit.
Outfit Inspo: Stacey Plaskett
Cape Dress of Democracy
Legal and Regal. Her words alone were not the only showcase during this week’s impeachment hearings. Her outfit was on point and noticed by American women everywhere who couldn’t help but to comment on her fierce “like a boss” look while “defending democracy in a cape.”
OUTFIT INSPO: Michelle Obama - Inauguration Inspiration
Michelle Obama was serving grace, grit, and style on a first class platter when she walked through those capital doors in her monochromatic power suit on Inauguration day. With a gasp of fresh air, American women everywhere felt that fashion power upstage the event in a Cabernet power suit. And just like that, inspiration hit this Modern Maz and I knew I had to bring a little of that fashion flavor back to the 405 with the #ForeverFLOTUSChallenge.
How to Mix Patterns and Prints for a Fun Fashion Forward Look
I love a good mix up and power clashing that works is all about confidence. I’m not as brave as some with the mixed patterned look, but I like to match up similar colors and different patterns to have a look to be interesting, creative, and special.
Here’s a totally doable way to pull off mixing prints and patterns that will work seamlessly from the office to the courtroom.
Light Up Your Look with a White Suit
I might have gotten a little too dressed up for my visit downtown today, but I’m feeling myself on Inauguration week. This look is inspired by Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.
I will forever remember the iconic white suit she wore, on November 7th, when she told the children of our country that “regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before.” She is a true boss lighting the way for women of color in this country, and I’m so here for it, and I’m here for this white suit period.
How to Wear Pantone’s 2021 Color of the Year
The start of another year means that Pantone announces it’s color of the year for fashion. Although 2020 was a challenging year for many of us, the color of the year was an easy to wear calming, Classic Blue.
This year however Pantone’s optimism has tested my fashion forward palette. Let me present to you the color of 2021 is actually a combination of ‘Illuminating’ and ‘Ultimate Gray.’
Best Professional Interview Look
Before I hung my own shingle, I was an expert at interviews. I had folders prepared with beautiful cream colored paper and a copy of my cover letter, resume, and writing sample pre-prepped. I went over what my answers to the typical interview questions would be so I could make sure I wasn’t stumped. But most importantly, I laid out my clothes the night before to make sure I made just the right impression. When approaching a professional interview, here are some tips to put your best foot forward.
What’s Your Uniform?
A Lawyer’s uniform is a navy blue suit. I learned this as a law clerk and later a “baby lawyer” that you keep it conservative for the courtroom. That said, as I’ve matured, become a mom, my conservative look and my attitude about fashion changed because my needs and my body changed.
Command Attention with Little Effort
Being a #bossmom means you’re on call 24/7 whether it’s managing a crisis at work or at home. This look is the “uniform” I wear when I want to show up like a boss, but don’t want to think about coordinating.
