Paris Fashion Week Reveals What’s On Trend In Your Closet
If you’re anything like me, at the end of the night you find yourself scrolling and clicking on targeted ads in your news feed. At this point I’ve become accustomed to doing such “window shopping” online and leaving it in my “cart,” before I break the bank. But I’m here to tell you that you need to go no further than your own closet to re-invent your wardrobe and add some fun, fashion forward pieces. The good news: Paris fashion week has revealed a come back of big shoulders, puffy sleeves, monochromatic looks, and statement belts.
The great news: It’s time to unearth those 80s power suits, that 9 to 5 confidence you’ve held onto all these years, along with those bright flashy colors that have re-emerged giving you a reason to be as bold and dramatic as a Dynasty cast member.
OUTFIT INSPO: Michelle Obama - Inauguration Inspiration
Michelle Obama was serving grace, grit, and style on a first class platter when she walked through those capital doors in her monochromatic power suit on Inauguration day. With a gasp of fresh air, American women everywhere felt that fashion power upstage the event in a Cabernet power suit. And just like that, inspiration hit this Modern Maz and I knew I had to bring a little of that fashion flavor back to the 405 with the #ForeverFLOTUSChallenge.
Tuesday Takeover: Nikki Jones Edwards
For our first Tuesday Takeover, let me introduce Nikki Jones Edwards, a premier litigator with an active family law practice in Oklahoma City. Nikki vibes on the same energy level that I have, which is a rare find. She’s direct and intense but with a heart of gold. In true modern woman fashion, she balances her professional life, leadership, and philanthropy with being a Mother. After all that, she still manages to find time for meditation, bonding with family and friends, and mentoring young lawyers. She is a true boss, and I’m happy to pass the keyboard to feature her style.
Me-OW! Wild for Animal Print in a Predatory Way
One of my latest obsessions is animal print. For the last couple of years it has been a top trend that I often use to style up a neutral palette or add some spice to a plain suit. As time goes on, it’s become more of a staple and I want to share with you some ways to use it and some links of some very stylish items to give a lift to your current wardrobe.
How to Mix Patterns and Prints for a Fun Fashion Forward Look
I love a good mix up and power clashing that works is all about confidence. I’m not as brave as some with the mixed patterned look, but I like to match up similar colors and different patterns to have a look to be interesting, creative, and special.
Here’s a totally doable way to pull off mixing prints and patterns that will work seamlessly from the office to the courtroom.
Light Up Your Look with a White Suit
I might have gotten a little too dressed up for my visit downtown today, but I’m feeling myself on Inauguration week. This look is inspired by Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.
I will forever remember the iconic white suit she wore, on November 7th, when she told the children of our country that “regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before.” She is a true boss lighting the way for women of color in this country, and I’m so here for it, and I’m here for this white suit period.
When in Doubt, Make it Peplum.
Queens, this is one my best kept secrets for women with curves, especially if you want to boss it up at work. I found this brand by accident at a local boutique and since, cannot get enough. Chiara Boni La Petite Robe knows how to cloak a woman’s body with beautiful clothing that will make heads turn and it is all about the fabric.
How to Wear Pantone’s 2021 Color of the Year
The start of another year means that Pantone announces it’s color of the year for fashion. Although 2020 was a challenging year for many of us, the color of the year was an easy to wear calming, Classic Blue.
This year however Pantone’s optimism has tested my fashion forward palette. Let me present to you the color of 2021 is actually a combination of ‘Illuminating’ and ‘Ultimate Gray.’
Attracting Your Ideal Client Through Fashion
I've always loved color, fashion, and an edgier look for an on-the-go life, but when running around town I need it to be practical. In my journey find a fashion forward style for marketing my company, I reached out to a stylist to take a second look at what I was doing. Although I’ve done a lot of marketing through the years, I had never thought about fashion being a way, through outfits, to attract different types of clients and different demographics.
Bundle up for Court In Style
With the courts opening back up in January, it's important to keep your style warm and cozy to combat that cold weather.
