Paris Fashion Week Reveals What’s On Trend In Your Closet

If you’re anything like me, at the end of the night you find yourself scrolling and clicking on targeted ads in your news feed. At this point I’ve become accustomed to doing such “window shopping” online and leaving it in my “cart,” before I break the bank. But I’m here to tell you that you need to go no further than your own closet to re-invent your wardrobe and add some fun, fashion forward pieces. The good news: Paris fashion week has revealed a come back of big shoulders, puffy sleeves, monochromatic looks, and statement belts.

The great news: It’s time to unearth those 80s power suits, that 9 to 5 confidence you’ve held onto all these years, along with those bright flashy colors that have re-emerged giving you a reason to be as bold and dramatic as a Dynasty cast member.

The Statement Belt

Statement belts can bring an otherwise average outfit to new heights and they were all over the runway this year. We all have our standard look for the office, but a statement belt is an extra asset when accentuating a natural woman’s figure. A statement belt buckle can cinch your waist in a coat, blazer, shawl, or add a little something extra to a monochromatic blazer and pant to differentiate you from the crowd of suits. This Versace belt adds the perfect accent to polish up this look.

Monochromatic Vibes and Strong Shoulders

Simplicity, in this case, is so elegant and a shoulder pad takes this suit to the next level. Dripping the same color head to toe is so chic and so 2021. Lucky for me this outfit becomes a no-brainer as black-on-black is my favorite color combo and this cinched belt on a power blazer is serving Alexis Carrington vibes. This blazer, pant, and camisole are from the Antonio Melani line at Dillards.

Bright Colors

While you will see the lemony shades of yellow this year as Pantone’s pick, you’ll also see other dreamsicle brights in shades of pink, orange, and lavender on trend this year. These shoes are among some of my favorites for the year, but look out for brights in suiting in a fun and creative way through spring.

Shining Bright Among The Stars

Special Thanks to @DeniseDuongArt for letting me capture this outfit in such an amazing space. If you have not yet checked out Little D’s Gallery in Paseo, it is a must see for her art, use of color, and creativity that have graced so many of Oklahoma City’s walls through mural and canvas.

As a bonus, this article explains there are plenty of 2021 trends already in your closet to try this season. It discusses using what you have or adding a statement buckle to your wardrobe for a big return on investment.
