Tuesday Takeover: Meredith Garrett

I’m proud to introduce Meredith Garrett, founder of Marked by Meredith to the blog. In our quarantine summer of 2020, I was fortunate enough to work with Meredith in creating a dream space for my daughter to school from home and I cannot say enough good things and frankly, neither can the world; check out her IG @markedbymeredith. She is driven and passionate about her work and she spreads that love around like the best mama, friend, and hype girl a lady could have. She also has impeccable taste and with that I’ll pass the mic.

Pretty In Polka-Dots

Hello, Maz-Mavens.

I’m so excited to be taking over Katherine’s blog today!

My name is Meredith, and I’m the founder of Marked by Meredith, where I help people design their home and style their life. I’m also a full-time legal assistant, a full-time single mom, and I’m a contributing writer for OKC Mom. Needless to say, the only thing bigger than my hustle is my love for coffee.

I’ve been thrifting and curating looks since my teens, so I can honestly say I put the word “able” in affordable, because my style has never suffered just because of my budget.

After all, life is too short to wear boring clothes.

Bold and Fashion Forward

Thankfully, Victoria Beckham brings the boldness with her fashion-forward, yet reasonably priced Target line, Who What Wear – a life saver for working women.

Today, I’m wearing one of her latest pieces, and here’s why it works:

1.       The polka-dot print is fun, and the cut is classy. This marriage of professional and feminine makes for a perfect transition from the office to dinner with the girls. #CueTheCocktails

2.       I love that the tie cinches the waist, with the bow graciously covering the commonly-loathed stomach area. This is a forgiving feature that also makes the dress interesting.

3.       Oh, and did I mention this dress has pockets? (I probably should have led with that!) More room to carry all the things for your kids – wait I mean, to carry business cards and Benjamins.

4.       I don’t need to supplement this look with a jacket or jewelry, as it stands out on its own. Less is more with a busy print like this.

Diva on a Budget

Whether I’m preparing pleadings at my desk or running to the courthouse as pictured, I need a look that’s both comfortable and confident. Making a statement in the meantime is always the cherry on top. This is accomplished through the charming design, feminine fit and lastly (perhaps most importantly) the manner in which I wear it.

Because remember…even if your threads are thrifted, walking with purpose and poise will elevate any look.

And I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to just read the room, I want to change its energy.

Stay inspired,

Meredith
