Tuesday Takeover: Mary Rahimi

I am so excited to introduce the beautiful and kind, Mary Rahimi to Maz Modern. Along with being our firm’s newest associate attorney, she is co-author of an article for February’s Briefcase, “The Right to Bare Arms” and brings her fashion knowledge and a positive energy into the office that was much needed in the past year of pandemic times. With youth comes a fresh perspective that is consistently welcomed to refresh our environment and give us new ideas on how to reach the next generation. With lots of love, I pass the mic to my co-worker and friend Mary Rahimi.

Hello faithful Maz Modern followers! It is such an honor to be able to star on Takeover Tuesday, and I’m so excited to share some of my favorite looks with you all. If you don’t know me, I am Mary Rahimi-Ahrabi, the newest attorney at the Mazaheri Law Firm. Working with Katherine has given me the unique experience of a fashion connoisseur only six (thanks COVID) feet away from me. Katherine has given me so much inspiration in both the legal world and the fashion world, and I’m ready to sprinkle in my two cents! This specific blog post is dedicated to all the new attorneys, who like me, may have been a bit of a professional wear dunce. Luckily I’ve learned (and am still learning!) the dos and don’ts of professional wear.

In Living Color

One thing I struggled with when I first began legal internships was expressing myself in my clothing. Prior to law school, “blazer” was a foreign word to me, and “suit” simply represented a sequence in cards. My world was upended when I began my first year, and realized very quickly that professional wear is a requisite to any and all legal careers. I spent my three years of law school confining myself pretty strictly to faithful black suits, as everything else seemed improper to me. However, as I began practicing as an attorney, I learned that the everyday business casual look does not need to be the standard black or navy suit. Colors aren’t a dirty word, and with enough grace and the perfect heels, pink is both welcomed and applauded in the office.

 Pretty in Pink

Those who know me are probably expecting some variation of this outfit. I have consistently been infatuated with the color pink since I was a young girl, and it is a love that has only grown throughout time. As I grew more comfortable with branching out of my standard black suit uniform, I’ve learned that I can bring some of my favorite colors to the office. Since then, I have accumulated a number of pink suits, which are perfect for a day in the office or meeting with clients. These pink Preston & York slacks are springing me into this new season, and the paired Alex Marie floral top that is cozy yet professional.

Strictly Business

While I’ve learned to embrace the Elle Woods in me, and have invested in plenty of colorful suits and blazers, there is always a time and place for them. With a bar card comes the responsibility of following courtroom attire, and on days where I need to make court appearances I find myself returning to the ole faithful suits. Since graduating law school, I’ve learned that the proper heels are the mediator to my rocky relationship with black suits. This Calvin Klein suit is comfortable and perfect for the business professional look. I’ve paired it with my trusty Louboutins to show the world that I mean business.

Self-expressionism is an important aspect of my closet, and I hope this post brings some solace to attorneys of all generations who may feel shackled to the neutrals. Handing the mic back over to Katherine…

XOXO,

Mary
