Femme Friday

Let’s talk about FEMINISM. Sometimes misinterpreted as “man-bashing,” the advocacy of women's rights is actually pro-EQUAL rights. That can be interpreted as equal pay for equal work, celebrating one’s femininity, or standing up for unfair rights and unfair/illegal treatment of women, men, and/or those identifying as LGBTQ+. Last week I got to discuss my philosophy of feminism on a Zoom panel along with my experiences that formed the identity. To me, being “Zoom ready” means looking professional AND having the credentials to back up your claims. On days like this, I often make sure I’m “Zoom ready”, the top with a bodysuit and smart blazer and the bottom with my favorite @madewell jeans to feel comfortable and at ease.

“Feminism [is the] notion that we should each be free to develop our own talents and not be held back by manmade barriers” - Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Basic Bodysuit for a more than Basic Day

The office hours landscape has become more flexible so our workwear on a Friday must follow suit. Enter the Bodysuit: on half-days in the office, this piece can easily transition from the morning office tasks to the afternoon errand runs. It stays tucked into my soft black Madewell jeans so no fashion faux pas will happen no matter how I move through my day. This look, a throwback to the ’90s, has been reclaimed by a new generation of femmes as versatile pieces of workwear.

Blazin Trails

On days when I sport a more relaxed office look, I love to pair my Bodysuit with a professional blazer and jeans. This keeps me comfortable, Zoom meeting ready, and able to sprint out to lunch for a last-minute meetup. A bright color can shake up the look, but today I added a patterned blazer for a slight nod to my younger self and the 90’s flannel trend.
