Tuesday Takeover: Elizabeth Barajas
I’m so stoked to welcome Elizabeth Barajas to share her take on a “Survivalist’s Guide to Fashion.” Back in the days when we were single and childless, Elizabeth and I would romp around Florida beaches and down Orange Street with the latest outfit we could squeeze on in our price range. Today Liz and I are both lawyers and both busy mothers living totally different lives with similar survival techniques. The vibe in Denver, Colorado, Liz’s current stomping ground, is often chill and laid back. With Liz’s busy and beautiful life, I wanted to hear her tips for getting through her week as an Assistant District Attorney, a mom, and what practical fashion tips she had to give when prioritizing comfort, versatility, and being a new mom. From our wild single times to the jungle that is motherhood, Elizabeth has confidently shown her ability to not only survive in any environment, but to thrive and look good while doing it. Enjoy!
Tuesday Takeover: Shiny Rachel Mathew
For this Tuesday Takeover I’d like to welcome my fearless friend Shiny Rachel Mathew to the blog. Long before she was the Queen B of tax law, I originally met Shiny as a law student at OCU Law. Sixteen years later, I’ve had the pleasure of watching her grow into a total BOSS, taking over the tax world through her co-ownership of the firm Polston Tax , authoring a book, numerous tv appearances, helping the public with tax issues, teaching continuing education courses at steak restaurants (great touch), and most recently I’ve gotten to know her as the best mother of three beautiful kids. Along with juggling the demands of a working mother, her generosity as a woman of faith and conviction shine through her work and philanthropy. I admire her ambition, her patience and foresight, her generous spirit, and her simply elegant style. She has the confidence and grace to pull off almost anything and I can’t wait to hear what she has to share during her takeover.
Tuesday Takeover: Rana Najib
Welcome Rana Najib to takeover this Tuesday! Rana is a strong, working mother who has translated her 15 years of customer service and management experience to give outstanding client services as a Real Estate Agent with Fidelity Real Estate Brokers. For the short time I’ve known Rana, she’s truly been such a positive and generous person going that extra mile to make someone’s day or to give detailed information that could make a difference when it comes to decision making when it comes to real estate purchases. As a native Texan, Rana shows that her attention to detail does not just come from her work ethic which you can follow at @RealEstateWithRana, but also in her style which is always on point. I’m excited to have her share some of her tricks of the trade with us this Tuesday.
Tuesday Takeover: Abby Broyles
I’m proud to welcome Abby Broyles to take over this Tuesday. Many of us know her as a young politician who ran a competitive campaign for State Senate last year, but I also know her as a lawyer, a former reporter, and now as a friend. As a colleague, I most admire her confidence, tenacity, and her willingness to find solutions for working Oklahomans particularly in her new endeavor to protect voting rights and encourage new voters with “Grit for Democracy.” As a friend, I admire her loyalty, humility, positivity, and purpose-driven life. As a fashionista, whether it’s on-air as a reporter or appearing as a politician, she’s always camera-ready and has given me a few tips when I’ve needed to present well on camera. This Tuesday, we all get some fashion-forward pointers from the incomparable and resolute Abby Broyles.
Takeover Tuesday: Danielle Fielding
Let’s welcome the fun and fresh Danielle Fielding to takeover today. Danielle is a top plaintiff’s attorney for medical malpractice in Oklahoma City and co-owner of Martin & Fielding law firm. She’s energetic, optimistic, a great judge of character, and I admire how she balances the demands of being a good mom with taking care of business. In fact, I recently hired her to take care of a personal injury case for me which yielded great results! Danielle is definitely someone I’m lucky enough to call a friend in the local legal community and she definitely undersells her fashion sense because she always looks great. With that let me pass the mic to Danielle Fielding a trusted advisor both in the fashion world and the legal field.
Tuesday Takeover: Monica Ybarra
Maz Mavens let me introduce you to the effervescent and elegant Monica Ybarra. I am lucky enough to have served on the OCU Law Alumni Association board with her as President for a couple of years and been able to witness her charisma, leadership ability, and style. Monica is a lawyer by profession—In house counsel at TBS Factoring Service, LLC, but among her peers she is most well-known for her ability to connect, her authenticity, her hard work ethic, and her ability to bring sunshine to the space she enters. She has a true sense of self in a way that exudes confidence, but not vanity. She loves to lift others up and does it with grace. When she’s not roaming around obscure parts of Oklahoma and Santa Fe with her fiancé, you’ll find she takes pride in representing the Latinx community in anyway she can. In fact, I often see hints of Latin representation in her unique, yet classic style that I describe as powerfully feminine. With that, it’s my pleasure to get some fashion ques from the always on point Monica Ybarra.
Tuesday Takeover: Cynthia Tobar McCoy
It is an honor to introduce Cynthia Tobar McCoy to takeover this Tuesday. I met her as a young blossoming woman when she worked at the Latino Community Development Agency with my mother. Today, she is an accomplished Licensed Professional Counselor and founder of Emotional Wellness Counseling. I always admired her unique style, confidence, and independant way of looking at the world and I’m so excited to hear what she has to say about empowering yourself through fashion. With that let me pass the keyboard to the beautiful and insightful Cynthia Tobar McCoy.

As a busy working mom, she knows how to juggle the chaos of #momlife with the demands of professional life as an owner of a Chiropractic and Wellness business: Pure Health. Her dedicated work ethic and positive spirit have always been such an inspiration to me and other moms alike. She’s well known for being excellent at what she does and uplifting her patients to energize and enhance their body to become the best version of themselves. She is definitely living her best life and believes that to live well, you need to feel good which is clearly evidenced by her glowing skin and high energy level. And with that, handing over the mom boss baton to Lindsey Johnson to learn a little something about business casual spring fashion.
