Top Ways to Elevate Your Look this Season
Winter can seem dreary to some, but for me it’s the perfect season to take stock of what I have and what classic investments I need for the coming months. Here are some top ways to elevate your look this season:
1. Invest in a beautiful overcoat. Depending on your style, a great coat can be a timeless and Chic accessory to your outfit now, and for winters to come.
2. Clean out your closet. Take stock of what you have. Is it dated? Do you wear it? Does it bring you joy? If not, pick a few items at a time you want to replace and invest in those.
New moms: that silk blouse look may not be for you right now (or it wasn’t for me due to leakage). Look to crossbody shirts that are washable so you can be accessible for breastfeeding or pumping. My best bet for these was @bananarepublic
Career Women 40 and up:
When was the last time you updated your suiting? Styles, sizes, and color trends are updated each season. May be time for an update and upgrade your look. The colors on trend in 2021 are Illuminating-a bright yellow hue, Ultimate gray, Set Sail Champagne, Tidewater Green, Marigold, Cerulean, Rust, French Blue, Green Ash, Burnt Coral, Mint, Amethyst Orchid, Raspberry Sorbet, Inkwell, Buttercream, Desert Mist, Willow. All these colors don’t look good on everyone, but a quick update would be an add of one of these to your outfit.
3. Shoes, scarfs, handbags. New suiting can be expensive but a quick way to add flavor can be adding a bright color in your shoes, scarf, or handbag instead of playing it safe.
4. Take care of your skin. The winter can be harsh on your skin. For women approaching 40 older, get your skin checked and make friends with your dermatologist. She/he can help you make subtle changes that give you confidence. A great routine with sunscreen, serum, oil, retinoid, and heavy moisturizer can help your skin get through these harsh months.
